April

April started off with Nate and I going up to Chicagoland for Nate to take a clinical test that he had to pass in order to graduate. It happened to fall the Monday before Easter break started. So we met Nana in Lebanon on Saturday. She took HK back to Eldo and we headed north for the weekend. We had a nice weekend away and then Nate took his test on Monday. You couldn't pay me enough to live in that city and drive that traffic everyday. Luckily we barely made it out before the heavy traffic began. Then we went south again on Thursday evening for Easter weekend. My school got out Th and Nate was able to get Friday off. That was a LONG time without seeing HK...the longest yet. I had this feeling that she was going to take her first steps while we were gone because she was so close before we left. When we saw her on Friday she almost wouldn't come to me over Nana. Then she turned and took about 7 or 8 steps in my direction. I squealed and she squealed and Nana squealed. I said that's too many steps to be your first ones. Nana tried to lie and saw those were her first, but the real story came out that she had taken her first ones just a day or two before that. They said they almost missed them. She did take about 6 steps the first time. So now the games began of seeing how far we could get her to go before she fell. We celebrated the rest of the weekend with both families and had a great time. HK had her first tea party, her first steps (9 months.3 weeks old), and her first Easter all in just a few short days.
