Vacation - The Condo

VACATION...

Here we go...sit down...and buckle up...it may take me several posts. There is just so much it is hard to decide what to share. So, yes, this is my best attempt to not post every picture!

Nana & Grampy arrived at our placed around 7:30 Saturday morning August 8th. We were then quickly on the road towards Indy to pick up Uncle Kent. Unfortunately Aunt Ang did not get to go with us this year because she had to work...hopefully next year!!! We missed her!

After arriving at Uncle Kent's, Melissa had decided to go after all! So we loaded them both up and ate a quick sandwich. Then we were off again.

Nolan playing peek-a-boo with Grampy!

Nate and I bought "The Shack" on dvd to listen to on the way there. It passed the time very quickly. It was very good! We both had tears in our eyes several different times. Hallie Kate was not in the van with us...so everytime we stopped we wanted to get out and hug her tight...if you have read the book you will understand...if not, you should read or listen to it!

At a pit stop HK is filling me in on the things she has seen and done while riding down the road!

The State of Wisconsin Welcomes You...this was always something we had to do on family vacation. Everyone had to have their picture taken by the state sign of our destination.

Here we all are...

Kent & Melissa

Mom & Dad (at a welcome center you can always find Mom with a stack of brochures in her hands...no one else even bothers looking...she covers it all, for everyone!)

Super Nolan! He has reached the age of Daddy beginning to do crazy things with him!

After all of our pit stops...We finally arrived at our condo in the Wisconsin Dells around 7 pm that night. We were more than pleased when we arrived!

This was our bedroom for the week...with both kids. The closet was absolutely huge. I was teasing HK and telling her that was her room. She took me seriously and told everyone else that. So, she slept in "her room" with the suitcases everyone night except the last one.

"Seriously people...it's about time you let me crawl around on the floor! Hands off of me for awhile!"

The fun was only beginning!

Pictures of Nolan's Arrival

Welcome Baby Nolan!

Baby Nolan arrived on Wednesday, December 3rd at 8:45 am. He was 8 lbs and 2 oz and 20 1/2 inches long. All are healthy and well in the Oldham family. Nolan wasn't due until the 12th. On Monday evening the 1st Mom started having constant pain in her pelvis that kept her from being able to walk. All she could muster were little shuffle steps and had to have help every time she needed to get up. So Tuesday afternoon Mom went to see the Dr. He knew Mom did not really want to be induced...she had very conflicting feelings about this. So Dr. suggested going in that night and trying some pitocin to see if it would get labor going along. If by morning nothing really was happening he'd send me back home. So I said yes. Nana and Grampy came over to stay with HK and we were at the hospital around 8:30 pm. Pitocin started at 9:30 and contractions started withing 15 minutes. I contracted every 2-3 minutes all night long! Unfortunately, Mom had only dilated to a 1 by about 6:00ish that morning. She was frustrated and knew they'd be going home. Shorty after...around 6:30 am painful contractions began. When Dr. came by to check on things at about 7:15 she was dilated to a 3. He broke her water and man did the process take off at high speed. VERY painful contractions began coming fast and furious. They could not get the epidural to Mom fast enough!! 8:45 am after just about 10 minutes of pushing Baby Nolan entered this world. Dad guessed his weight to be about 6 lbs 1 oz. He severely underestimated the size of his son! We are so glad that he is here and doing well...and that Mom feels very well too! Hallie Kate got to meet her baby brother later that morning. She was actually speechless for awhile. You could see the look of awe and wonder on her face. She wanted to touch, hold, and kiss him. She became very possessive...he is "my Nolan". Thank you Lord for each person in this family! Enjoy the pictures!

Girls' Trip

The second week in August we went on a
girls' shopping trip up north. I pulled out the travel highchair to take. I had it all folded up ready to go with the rest of our stuff by the baby gate. When HK woke up from her nap she instantly went to the seat, opened it up, and crawled in. Maybe she was trying to tell me something? She continued to play with it for another 15 minutes. She carried it all over the place.

We went up north to take Granny to visit her two sisters. They all stayed together. Then the shopping crowd stayed together and spent all day at an outlet mall in Michigan City, IN. HK was quite a trooper. We borrowed a stroller from someone up north. It was very nice and HK took about a two hour nap. She was passed around between all of us all day. I was very proud of her for lasting as long as she did and behaving as well as she did. The highlight of my day was the Children's Place Outlet. They had several racks of clothing for 1.99. Needless to say I bought her several things for next summer. She also picked out a pair of jeans with sparkles on them. We got back that evening at 9:30. HK never fell asleep on the 1 1/2 hr ride back. She talked, laughed, and had a good time with the big girls.
When we got back she was wired. When the pizza arrived at 10 that was it. I didn't want her eating it that late and I knew she would want it.
Needless to say she was not happy about having to leave the other girls and go to bed. When we had her in the bedroom getting ready for bed mom was in there with us and don't ask me how but we both let her fall off the bed. She hit with a thud and I'm not sure who was more upset...me or her. She finally went to sleep and was exhausted! Needless to say she did sleep some on the way home the next day. It took us a few days to recover from 3 days off schedule. I guess she'll get to go again next year.

Well I have finally caught up on the last 8 months of pictures. I would share the rest of August except that I left the camera at Mom and Dad's the last time we were there. We'll be seeing them this weekend at Kent's place in Indianapolis.

Uncle Nick & soon-to-be-Aunt Terrah

Nick moved to Louisville, KY on Sunday, August 5th. He is starting his audiology doctorate. Nick and Terrah are recently engaged and getting married in June '08. When Uncle Nick went to NY this summer he brought HK back a t-shirt that says I love NY. They are posing in their matching shirts for me. That weekend HK and her Aunt Terrah had a blast. They played peek-a-boo with the blanket, read stories, and other fun stuff.

Studying Pictures

I have put pictures of family and friends in those magnetic picture holders. We stuck them on the frig. Hallie Kate loves studying them, taking them off, carrying them around, and putting them back. I'm trying to teach her to put names with the faces. Some she can do, but we're working on it.
